Privacy policy
Safari AI Sidebar is designed without accounts, advertising, analytics profiles, or a product backend. It reads a page only after you invoke the extension on that page.
Page and video content
Extracted page text, selections, captions, questions, and answers stay in the current Safari tab session. They are not uploaded to Safari AI Sidebar or retained when the tab session ends.
Model processing
When Apple on-device intelligence is available, requests can be processed on your Mac. If you explicitly configure and select a third-party provider, the evidence needed for that request is sent directly from the app to that provider under the provider’s own terms and privacy policy. Safari AI Sidebar never selects a third-party provider silently.
Credentials
Third-party API keys are stored in Apple Keychain. They are not stored in preferences, diagnostics, or page scripts.
Diagnostics
The app retains up to 50 local diagnostic events containing timing, task type, provider identifier, evidence/citation counts, page type, and error code. Diagnostics exclude URLs, page titles, page or transcript content, questions, answers, and API keys. You may inspect, export, or clear them at any time.
Permissions
The extension requests access to the active page when you invoke it. Optional site access is used only when you choose a persistent site permission. Browser-internal pages, inaccessible cross-origin frames, and protected content may not be readable.
